KYBELLA® • DOUBLE CHIN TREATMENT • RENO, NEVADA
Kybella® is an FDA-approved prescription injectable used in adults to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin, often called a double chin. For patients researching double chin treatment in Reno, the key question is whether submental fat is actually the main cause of the fullness. At Bella Derma Skin Care Solutions in Reno, treatment begins with an individualized evaluation of your anatomy, submental fullness, skin quality, medical history, and goals.

UNDERSTANDING KYBELLA
KYBELLA® contains deoxycholic acid, a molecule that helps break down fat cells when injected into appropriate submental fat beneath the chin. It is specifically FDA-approved for adults with moderate to severe submental fullness. It is not a general-purpose facial or body-fat treatment. Learn more from the official Kybella website.
WHY THE LOWER FACE CAN LOOK FULL
Submental fullness can be influenced by genetics, aging, weight changes, facial anatomy, chin projection, and skin laxity. Two people can look similar in a photo but need very different treatment plans. That is why Bella Derma evaluates the source of the fullness before recommending Kybella.
CANDIDACY
Kybella may be considered when unwanted fullness beneath the chin is caused in meaningful part by submental fat. It may be a poor match when the main concern is loose skin, chin or jaw structure, prominent masseter muscles, or another anatomical issue. A consultation helps determine whether Kybella belongs in the plan—or whether another option would better address the concern.
Kybella is designed to address appropriate fat beneath the chin—not every cause of lower-face fullness.
If skin laxity is the dominant concern, fat reduction alone may not create the result you want.
Chin projection, jaw structure, and muscle width can also influence how the lower face appears.
THE TREATMENT
Treatment involves a series of small injections placed into the submental treatment area after the provider evaluates and marks the anatomy. The injected deoxycholic acid disrupts targeted fat cells, and the body gradually clears the treated material over time. Treatment planning, injection placement, and the number of sessions are individualized.
TREATMENT SERIES
Pricing per treatment
1 vial: $500
2 vials: $900
3 vials: $1,200
4 vials: $1,500
Each treatment uses 1–4 vials, based on May’s medical assessment. Bella Derma recommends 2–3 treatments for optimum results, with your plan individualized by May.
There is no one number that applies to every patient. FDA labeling permits up to six treatment sessions, spaced at least one month apart. The appropriate number depends on the amount and distribution of submental fat, anatomy, response to treatment, and the patient’s goals.
The first step is determining whether submental fat is actually the main cause of the fullness you want to change.
Some patients may need fewer sessions while others may need additional treatments to reach an appropriate endpoint.
Kybella is not an instant transformation. Results develop over time as the treated area settles and the body processes the disrupted fat cells.
APPOINTMENT EXPERIENCE
A Kybella appointment begins with clinical assessment and treatment-area mapping. The provider then performs multiple small injections beneath the chin according to the treatment plan. Post-treatment instructions are reviewed before you leave, including what swelling and tenderness can be expected and when to contact the practice.
RECOVERY
Swelling is common after Kybella and can be noticeable, especially in the first several days. Other common reactions include bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of firmness in the treatment area. Because the recovery experience varies, timing treatment around work, travel, photographs, and special events is worth discussing during consultation.
If you have travel, photography, a wedding, work presentation, or another time-sensitive event coming up, tell us during consultation so treatment timing can be planned realistically.
SAFETY
Kybella is a prescription treatment with meaningful risks as well as benefits. Important labeled risks include marginal mandibular nerve injury, difficulty swallowing, and injection-site complications. The treatment should be performed only after appropriate medical evaluation and anatomical assessment. Review the current FDA prescribing information for full safety information.
RIGHT TREATMENT, RIGHT CONCERN
Lower-face contour is not controlled by one structure. Fat, muscle, bone structure, projection, and skin quality can all affect how the jawline looks. Bella Derma’s goal is to identify the actual cause before recommending a procedure. You can also read our jawline slimming guide for a broader explanation of lower-face anatomy and treatment options.
Targets appropriate submental fat beneath the chin and may be considered for non-surgical double chin reduction when fat—not loose skin, muscle width, or facial structure—is the primary concern.
May be considered when lower-face width is driven by strong masseter muscles, not fat.
May be used for structural balance or projection when volume and facial proportions are the concern. Explore dermal fillers in Reno when chin or jaw structure—not submental fat—is the issue.
May be more relevant when skin quality or laxity—not submental fat—is the main issue. Explore skin tightening and rejuvenation in Reno when laxity is the dominant concern.
