Aerolase Acne Treatment in Reno
Active acne, lingering marks, and true acne scars are different problems. Bella Derma uses Aerolase Neo Elite as part of a personalized acne plan designed around what your skin actually needs first.
A MORE COMPLETE ACNE STRATEGY
Treat the breakout first—then decide what comes next
Acne care gets confusing when active breakouts, flat red or brown marks, and indented scars are treated as if they are the same problem. They are not.
At Bella Derma, Aerolase Neo Elite may be used to support treatment of active inflammatory acne and related redness or discoloration when appropriate. But laser is not automatically the entire plan. Home care, acne triggers, skin-barrier health, pigment tendency, hormonal patterns, medications, and scarring risk can all change what should happen first.
The goal is not to sell the most treatments. It is to build the right sequence for clearer, healthier-looking skin.
KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TREATING
Active acne, acne marks, and acne scars need different strategies
One of the most useful things an acne consultation can do is identify which problem is actually in front of us. That distinction determines whether the priority is calming active breakouts, fading residual color, remodeling scar tissue, or some combination over time.
Active acne
Inflamed pimples, pustules, clogged pores, and recurring breakouts. The first priority is usually controlling the active process and reducing new lesions before focusing heavily on scar remodeling.
Post-acne marks
Flat red, pink, brown, or gray discoloration can remain after a blemish has healed. These marks are not the same as an indented scar and may need a pigmentation or redness strategy rather than collagen remodeling.
True acne scars
Rolling, boxcar, ice-pick, raised, or otherwise texturally altered scars involve structural change in the skin. These may require microneedling, VAMP Advanced, specialist procedures, or other scar-directed treatments after active acne is controlled.
Read our acne scar treatment guide for a deeper explanation of marks, texture, indented scars, and how treatment sequencing changes for each.
WHERE AEROLASE FITS
How Aerolase Neo Elite may support acne-prone skin
Aerolase Neo Elite uses a 650-microsecond, 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser. Aerolase describes its acne application as acting on several parts of the acne process, including inflammation, sebaceous-gland activity, and C. acnes bacteria.
For patients, the practical point is simpler: the laser may be one useful tool for reducing the visible activity of inflammatory acne while also supporting improvement in redness, post-inflammatory discoloration, and overall skin quality in selected patients.
Bella Derma does not assume that every breakout needs laser treatment. The decision depends on acne pattern, severity, skin tone, pigment history, current products and medications, and what has or has not worked before.

LASER + HOME CARE
Why Bella Derma combines Aerolase with Face Reality when appropriate
Acne is happening every day—not only during the hour you are in the treatment room. That is why a consistent home routine can matter as much as the procedure itself.
Face Reality’s Clear Skin Method centers on professional skin analysis, individualized home care, in-clinic treatments, and ongoing adjustments. Bella Derma can use that framework alongside Aerolase when the combination makes sense for the patient.
The roles are different: Aerolase may help address active inflammation and other acne-related concerns in clinic, while a carefully selected home routine supports the skin between visits and helps reduce the trial-and-error cycle that often makes acne-prone skin more irritated.
SKIN TONE MATTERS
Acne treatment for skin of color requires pigment-aware planning
For many patients with medium to deep skin tones, the breakout is only half the problem. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can remain visible long after the active lesion resolves, and overly aggressive treatment can create additional pigment change.
Neo Elite’s 1064 nm wavelength is one reason Aerolase is used across a broad range of skin tones. Even so, skin tone alone does not determine safety. Recent tanning, melasma tendency, prior pigment changes, active irritation, and the treatment goal still matter.
Bella Derma takes a conservative approach: control the acne, protect the barrier, minimize unnecessary inflammation, and then decide how to address lingering color or texture.
RIGHT TREATMENT, RIGHT TIME, RIGHT SEQUENCE
What an acne treatment plan may look like
Not every patient will follow the same sequence, but a thoughtful plan usually separates control of active acne from later correction of marks and scars.
1. Calm active breakouts
Identify the acne pattern, reduce avoidable irritation, establish a workable home routine, and use in-clinic treatment such as Aerolase when appropriate.
2. Reassess marks and redness
Once fewer new lesions are forming, assess what remains: redness, brown pigment, textural unevenness, or true scarring.
3. Address texture and scars
When the skin is ready, consider scar-directed options such as microneedling, VAMP Advanced, laser, or referral for deeper or specialized scars.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Treatment plans are individualized—not one-size-fits-all
How many treatments?
Acne treatment is usually a process rather than a single visit. The number and spacing of Aerolase sessions depends on acne severity, response, other treatments, home care, and whether the goal is active acne, residual redness or pigment, or skin-quality improvement.
What about cost?
Cost depends on the treatment plan rather than a generic “acne package.” A consultation helps determine whether Aerolase, Face Reality, facials, scar-focused treatment, or a combination is appropriate before you commit to a series.
Who may be a candidate?
Candidacy depends on the type of acne, medical and medication history, skin condition, pigment tendency, treatment goals, and whether another medical evaluation or treatment should come first.
MEDICALLY GUIDED ACNE CARE
Why provider judgment matters more than the device
Bella Derma Skin Care Solutions is led by May Belle Fellenz, APRN, MSN, FNP-BC. Acne treatment at Bella Derma begins with the skin in front of us—not with a predetermined package.
Some patients need help simplifying an overloaded routine. Some need active inflammatory acne treated before scar procedures. Some primarily have pigment or redness left from old breakouts. Others need referral or coordination for acne patterns that warrant medical evaluation.
That is why our approach is consultation-first and conservative: identify the problem, choose the right treatment, sequence it appropriately, and reassess rather than continuing a plan simply because it was started.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions about Aerolase acne treatment
Does Aerolase cure acne?
No treatment should be presented as a guaranteed cure for acne. Aerolase may be useful for reducing active inflammatory acne and related concerns in selected patients, but acne can be influenced by hormones, genetics, medications, products, lifestyle factors, and other variables. Long-term control may require more than one tool.
Can Aerolase treat acne scars?
Aerolase may support improvement in redness, pigmentation, skin quality, and some early textural change, but true indented acne scars often need a separate scar-remodeling plan. Bella Derma first distinguishes active acne and flat marks from structural scars before recommending treatment.
Can Aerolase help hormonal acne?
Laser may help the visible inflammatory component of some hormonal-pattern acne, but it does not correct the underlying hormonal driver. Persistent jawline or cyclical acne may benefit from medical evaluation in addition to aesthetic acne care.
Can teenagers be treated?
Teen acne requires age-appropriate assessment, realistic home care, parent or guardian involvement when required, and attention to scarring risk. Treatment recommendations depend on severity and individual circumstances rather than age alone.
Can darker skin tones receive Aerolase acne treatment?
Neo Elite is designed for use across a broad range of Fitzpatrick skin types. Pigment history, current skin condition, tanning, medications, and treatment parameters still matter, particularly for patients prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
How many Aerolase acne treatments will I need?
There is no universal number. Some patients may be treated in a series, but the appropriate number and interval should be based on the acne pattern, severity, response, and what else is included in the plan.
Can I use Face Reality while receiving Aerolase?
Often, yes, when the routine is selected and adjusted for the individual. In-clinic treatment and home care can play complementary roles. Your provider may modify product use around treatment dates depending on skin sensitivity and the products involved.
Should active acne be controlled before microneedling?
In many cases, active inflammatory acne is addressed before aggressive scar-remodeling procedures. The timing depends on acne activity, skin condition, and the type of microneedling or other procedure being considered.
