Stretch Mark Revision Treatments

Stretch marks form when skin stretches or shrinks quickly enough to disrupt collagen and elastin. Early marks may look red, purple, pink or brown; mature stretch marks usually become lighter and slightly depressed.

Bella Derma approaches stretch mark treatment as scar revision. Depending on the age, color, depth, skin tone and location of the marks, the plan may involve Aerolase Neo Elite, microneedling, VAMP Advanced Microneedling, or a sequence of treatments rather than relying on one modality for every scar.

The goal is realistic: make stretch marks less noticeable by improving color, texture and surrounding skin quality—not promise complete removal.

One of the most useful distinctions is whether a stretch mark is still relatively new and colored or has matured into a pale, white or silvery scar.

The Aerolase Neo Elite uses a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength with 650-microsecond pulse technology. Within a stretch mark revision plan, Neo Elite may be used to support dermal remodeling and improve the appearance of selected vascular or pigment components when clinically appropriate.

That does not mean every stretch mark is primarily a laser problem. A mature white stretch mark is structurally different from a newer red or purple one. The treatment should match what remains visible in the scar.

Aerolase: may be useful when color, vascular appearance, pigment or broader skin quality are part of the concern, while also supporting dermal collagen remodeling.

Microneedling: creates controlled micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production and can be useful for scars and stretch marks, especially when texture and depression are dominant.

VAMP Advanced Microneedling: may be considered when Bella Derma wants a more advanced microneedling-based remodeling approach as part of the plan.

The treatments are not automatically competitors. For some patients, the best strategy is choosing one; for others, sequencing modalities may make more sense because they solve different parts of the problem.

Stretch marks are permanent scars. Procedures can make them less noticeable, but no responsible treatment plan should promise complete removal. Improvement may involve softer contrast, smoother texture, reduced redness or better blending with the surrounding skin.

Results vary with the age of the stretch marks, their depth, body area, skin tone, treatment history and the modality used. Multiple sessions are commonly needed, and changes in collagen continue to develop after the treatment itself.

A consultation should consider pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin infection, recent tanning or sunburn, medications, a history of abnormal scarring, pigment changes after procedures, and whether the marks appeared suddenly or with other medical symptoms.

Rapidly developing or unusual stretch marks can sometimes be associated with corticosteroid exposure or medical conditions. If the pattern raises concern, the right next step is medical evaluation rather than simply treating the appearance.

Patients with pigment-prone skin may be more susceptible to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after aggressive treatment. That does not mean stretch mark revision is off-limits; it means treatment depth, energy, recent sun exposure, healing history and the selected modality should be considered carefully.

Neo Elite’s 1064 nm wavelength is used across a broad range of skin tones, while microneedling is also commonly used for scars and stretch marks across skin tones. The right choice still depends on the individual scar and patient—not a blanket claim that one technique is automatically best for everyone.
