Aerolase® Face, Hand and Leg Vein Treatment
Aerolase® vein treatment is a laser-based procedure that uses a high-powered laser to target and coagulate unwanted veins, causing them to gradually disappear.
FACIAL & SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT IN RENO
Small visible vessels can be a cosmetic concern—but larger or symptomatic veins may be a medical one
Broken facial capillaries, spider veins and small superficial vessels can become more noticeable with age, sun exposure, genetics, rosacea and other factors. These are often cosmetic concerns.
Bella Derma uses the Aerolase Neo Elite 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser as one option for selected visible vessels on the face and other appropriate areas. Laser energy is absorbed by hemoglobin in the targeted vessel, allowing the vessel to heat and gradually become less visible.
The important distinction is size and symptoms. A small cosmetic vessel is not the same thing as a bulging varicose vein, leg swelling or underlying venous disease.
WHAT KIND OF VEIN IS IT?
Facial capillaries, spider veins and varicose veins are not interchangeable
The appearance, size, location and symptoms of a vessel matter when deciding whether cosmetic laser treatment is appropriate.
HOW AEROLASE TARGETS VESSELS
The laser targets hemoglobin inside the vessel—not simply the color you see at the surface
The Neo Elite uses a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength with Aerolase’s 650-microsecond pulse technology. Hemoglobin within a visible vessel absorbs the laser energy, producing controlled heating that can cause the vessel to close and gradually be cleared by the body.
Vessel diameter, depth, color, location, surrounding skin tone and blood flow all influence how a vessel responds. That is why treatment settings should be selected for the specific target rather than using one universal “vein” protocol.
Aerolase lists spider veins, facial veins, periorbital veins, leg veins, venous lakes and other vascular lesions among Neo Elite treatment applications.
WHERE LASER MAY FIT
The face and small superficial vessels are different from larger leg-vein disease
Facial vessels: Small vessels around the nose, cheeks and other facial areas are common reasons patients seek cosmetic laser treatment.
Small spider veins: Fine superficial vessels may be appropriate laser targets depending on size, depth and location. On the legs, sclerotherapy is also a common treatment and may be preferred for certain veins.
Hands and other areas: A visible superficial vessel may be treatable, but the provider should first consider anatomy, vessel caliber and whether reducing that vessel is actually appropriate.
Larger varicose veins: These may require ultrasound evaluation, sclerotherapy, endovenous treatment or vascular care rather than a cosmetic surface laser.
WHEN COSMETIC TREATMENT IS NOT THE FIRST STEP
Leg swelling, pain, heaviness or skin changes deserve medical evaluation
Spider veins are often primarily cosmetic, but larger varicose veins and symptomatic leg veins can be associated with underlying venous disease. Cosmetic laser treatment should not be used to bypass an appropriate vascular evaluation.
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Some vessels respond quickly; others need multiple sessions or a different treatment altogether
The number of treatments depends on the vessel’s size, depth, color, location and the patient’s skin response. Small facial vessels may respond differently from leg spider veins, and larger vessels are less predictable with surface laser treatment.
Treated vessels can darken temporarily before fading. New vessels can also develop over time because laser treatment does not remove the underlying tendency to form them.
Bella Derma does not promise that every visible vessel will disappear after one treatment or recommend automatic maintenance on a fixed schedule. Follow-up should depend on what remains, what recurs and whether the original diagnosis was correct.
WHEN FACIAL VEINS OVERLAP WITH ROSACEA
Broken capillaries may be only one part of the redness picture
Visible facial vessels can occur with rosacea, but rosacea can also involve persistent background redness, flushing, inflammatory bumps, sensitivity and eye symptoms. Treating one visible vessel does not necessarily treat the whole condition.
If rosacea is driving the vascular change, Bella Derma may coordinate vessel treatment with a broader redness-management plan rather than treating isolated capillaries in a vacuum. For persistent flushing, diffuse redness, or rosacea management beyond an isolated vessel, see our rosacea and facial redness treatment in Reno page.

THE BELLA DERMA APPROACH
A cosmetic vein consultation should answer one question first: is this actually the right vein to laser?
May Belle Fellenz, APRN, MSN, FNP-BC, evaluates the vessel’s location, size, color, depth, surrounding skin, symptoms and medical history before recommending treatment.
For a small cosmetic facial vessel, Aerolase may be a reasonable choice. For larger leg veins, swelling, pain or signs of venous insufficiency, referral may be more appropriate. The goal is to use the laser where it fits—not to turn every visible vein into a laser package.
The guiding principle remains the same: right treatment, right time, right sequence.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Aerolase facial and spider-vein FAQ
Can Aerolase treat broken capillaries on the face?
Selected small facial vessels can be reasonable laser targets. Vessel size, depth, location and the patient’s skin response all influence treatment.
Can Aerolase treat spider veins on the legs?
Some small superficial leg vessels may be treated with laser. Sclerotherapy is also commonly used for leg spider veins, and larger or symptomatic veins may require vascular evaluation.
Will one treatment remove every vein?
No. Some vessels respond after one treatment, while others need additional sessions or a different modality. Bella Derma does not promise complete clearance after a single visit.
Can veins come back?
A successfully treated vessel may fade, but the tendency to develop new visible vessels can remain. New vessels may appear over time.
Is there downtime?
Downtime is usually limited for small cosmetic vessel treatment, but temporary redness, swelling, darkening or tenderness can occur. Aftercare depends on the location and treatment performed.
When should I see a vascular specialist instead?
Bulging varicose veins, persistent leg swelling, heaviness, pain, skin changes or ulcers deserve medical evaluation. Sudden one-sided swelling, warmth or significant pain requires prompt medical attention.
